Medicaid open enrollment period happening now in New Mexico

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – If you are looking to enroll in Medicaid, now is the time. The enrollment period for the Turquoise Care program is open from April 1 through May 31, 2024.

The Turquoise Care plan is New Mexico’s new Medicaid managed care program. It will launch on July 1, 2024 after the open enrollment period. The plan offers expanded Managed Care Organization (MCO) options.

Existing Medicaid customers with a Presbyterian Health Plan or a BlueCross BlueShield plan will be automatically re-enrolled if they don’t select a new MCO, the state’s Human Services Department says. Those with Western Sky Community Care will be assigned a new MCO or will need to pick a new MCO, as Western Sky Community Care will no longer be an option.

To learn more about Turquoise Care, you can attend an upcoming informational event. For a list of scheduled events, click this link.

“This is a vital period for Medicaid customers to choose the healthcare path that suits their unique needs, ensuring access to the highest quality of care,” said Dana Flannery, Director of the New Mexico Medicaid Program. “We invite all enrolled New Mexicans, community partners and Medicaid advocates to join us at the upcoming Turquoise Care informational events across the state.”
