No confidence vote for APD chief expected at Albuquerque City Council meeting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque City Council is expected to vote on whether or not they still have confidence in Albuquerque Police Department Chief Harold Medina. Councilor Louie Sanchez filed a declaration of no confidence against the police chief back in February where he questioned the chief’s leadership since he was appointed to the position back in 2020.

Councilor Sanchez alleged widespread corruption in APD. That includes the recent announcement of a federal investigation into multiple DWI officers that led to the dismissal of 150 active cases.

City council has requested Chief Medina show up on Wednesday night to address their concerns. The meeting starts at 5 p.m.
