Person dies in camper trailer fire in northwest New Mexico

SAN JUAN COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Fire investigators are investigating a camp trailer fire that is believed to have caused the death of someone who was inside.

San Juan County Fire & Rescue was dispatched to reports of a fire on Road 6940 in Waterflow just after 4 a.m. Wednesday. The Farmington Fire Department responded in mutual aid.

Crews arrived to find a camp trailer on fire and one person still inside. Another person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and has since been released. Crews found the individual dead in the trailer after the fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the San Juan County Joint Fire & Explosion Investigation Task Force.
