Police: 17-year-old in custody for stabbing death of woman in Rio Rancho

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – A 17-year-old was taken into police custody for the stabbing death of a woman in Rio Rancho.

Rio Rancho Police announced on Friday that Joshua Xavier Mora, a resident of Rio Rancho, was booked into the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center on an open count of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Officers responded to a call for service at 10:28 p.m. on Tuesday for a woman who was suffering from apparent stab wounds near the open space off of Riverside Drive NE. The woman, identified as Heather Nicole Lamb, 44, later died, police said.
