Red, White, and Balloons event in Albuquerque is back after a five-year hiatus

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) –It’s been a big part of the city’s Fourth of July celebration letting families see the fireworks away from the big crowds inside Balloon Fiesta Park. Now after being put on hold since the pandemic, that special event is finally making a comeback. This will be the first time since 2019 that the Red, White, and Balloons event will be held at the museum lawn and they’re hopeful for a crowd of over a thousand.

“We are so excited to bring this back after the pandemic now,” said Misty Carty, Membership Manager, Balloon Museum Foundation.

For the first time in five years, the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum says it’s bringing back the Red, White, and Balloons event giving thousands a unique perspective on the city’s annual fireworks show this Fourth of July.

“We want to enjoy the views that we have here from the balloon museum it’s one of our bigger fundraisers for the balloon museum,” said Carty.

The returning event is a five-hour ticketed experience with a smaller crowd than Freedom Fourth where people can see the fireworks and get access to food trucks, games live music, and a balloon glow at the museum. “Since we came out of the pandemic, we get calls that have been asking if we are going to have the event again, we are bringing it back for the community because it has been requested,” said Carty.

This year they’re hoping to raise $80,000 with all of those funds going toward the museum’s foundation. “The funds go to help support education exhibits and technology upgrades here at the balloon museum,” said Carty.

Tickets range from ten dollars all the way up to $125 for an expanded experience called the Stripes Benefit Dinner giving people a meal from the museum’s outdoor balcony. $10-$30 tickets are also available giving nearly 2,000 people access to the museum’s lawn. For more information, click here.

“It’s very special to bring the community together. We love bringing the community together for Fiesta. This is just another special time in the year for us to bring everyone here,” said Carty.
