After the triumph of his recent film Animal, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has embarked on his next project, Spirit. In this film, Prabhas set to play the lead role. While assuming the role of director once again, Vanga has also taken on the task of writing the screenplay. Despite being in the pre-production phase, Vanga recently disclosed the primary challenges he is facing.
Apart from Animal, Sandeep Reddy Vanga also directed Vijay Deverakonda’s Arjun Reddy and its Hindi version Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor. With his last three films turning into blockbusters and raking in significant revenue, expectations are high for his upcoming project with Prabhas, renowned for his star power. Fans anticipate yet another smash hit.
Spirit director says he is facing pressure in Prabhas’ movie’s pre-production phase
Sandeep Reddy Vanga has been updating fans of Prabhas on the progress of Spirit. In an interview with Galatta Plus, the director revealed he does not feel any pressure to make the movie due to his back-to-back blockbusters. However, he is worried about the screenplay and how it will be executed on the silver screens.
Talking about the writing process, the director said, “It is the most painful process, to achieve what you write. Rest all is achieved if the material is good. If you take pressure, you will do the same thing you did in the previous film.”
In the interview, the director also discussed the alleged hefty budget of the movie. There have been rumors circulating that Spirit is being funded with a budget of $36 million. Discussing the matter, Vanga noted that the budget relies on the leading actor’s stature. He explained that a film featuring a newcomer could be produced with a more conservative budget. However, for a star like Prabhas, $36 million is considered manageable.
Earlier, it was revealed that Spirit will feature Prabhas in a cop role. The film’s release date window is yet to be revealed.
