ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The name of embattled former state lawmaker Sheryl Williams Stapleton has been removed from a building on the fairgrounds. Crews painted over her name at the African American Performing Arts Center.
Stapleton is facing both state and federal charges over allegations that she funneled millions from Albuquerque Public Schools into her personal bank account. The governor says if Stapleton is exonerated, the legislature can consider putting her name back up.
