Slick St Helens sparkle in the rain to knock Leeds out of Challenge Cup

Challenge Cup: Leeds Rhinos 6-20 St HelensClark, Bennison and Walmsley tries book quarter-final spot

St Helens recorded a seventh consecutive victory at Headingley Stadium to continue their dominance over Leeds Rhinos and book their place in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup at the expense of Rohan Smith’s side.

Saints, winners here in Super League a week earlier, were once again the superior side in horrendous conditions, and certainly deserved their place in the last eight of this year’s competition. The Rhinos are on their worst-ever run of Challenge Cup defeats, with this the fourth year in succession they have exited at the first hurdle. They have not won a cup tie in front of a crowd since April 2019 and very rarely looked like ending that record here.
