The latest episode resumed the events of the previous one. Jinwoo found himself struggling with several enemies simultaneously after losing the teleportation stone. His determination was firm. However, he hit the bottom as his HP and mana depleted, implying he could only use a few skills as they would consume his vitals.

Things got worse when manifestations of various people criticized him. Even his weak past self was hurling him with negativity. Unsurprisingly, this was all created by the System. However, something miraculous happened as the light of hope was slipping through his hands. A penalty quest for failing to complete the daily strength training quest appeared. Jinwoo was transported to the penalty zone, which was an opportunity for him to replenish his strength.

The episode then focused on the penalty zone, and the protagonist got back his stats by defeating Giant Centipedes. His resolution was firm, and he was determined to face any pain if it meant he would get stronger. Jinwoo prepared to return to Job Change Quest by upgrading his gear, after which he equipped a new weapon called the Knight Killer and gained a new skill, Ruler’s Hand.

He emerged victorious at the end, and the System bestowed him with a new class, Necromancer. Although Jinwoo was dubious about his new class, he received several rewards from the System for his performance in the quest. Soon after, he finally unlocked a new class, Shadow Monarch. He also acquired many new skills, such as Shadow Extraction and Shadow Storage. Afterward, he assigned the word “Arise” as a command to extract shadows.

Towards the end of Solo Leveling episode 12, Jinwoo tried to extract the Knight Commander Igris the Blood-Red. However, his attempts were not very successful. However, the protagonist was quite persistent, and he convinced Igris to abandon his former post guarding the empty throne and instead serve him.

Jinwoo finally succeeded in extracting Igris, marking the beginning of his journey as the Shadow Monarch and leader of his shadow army. The episode ended with him calling Igris to his loyal knight commander.

A brief sequence at the end showcased the fourth Jeju Island expedition team. This included strong hunters such as Choi Jong-In, Cha Hae-In, and many others, as they came across an evolved ant monster with wings upon their arrival on the island. The closing scene hinted towards the start of the Jeju Island Arc, which will unfold in the upcoming season of Solo Leveling.
