The first elaborated report dedicated to the Romanian start-ups innovating in the real estate industry

Proptech Romania launched during the Romanian PropTech Awards event, the first elaborated report mapping Romanian start-ups and digital technology products designed for the real estate market. The report was developed in collaboration with Activize, the startup market intelligence partner, aiming to identify the dimensions of this market and its development perspectives.

The report encompasses 129 Romanian start-ups, categorized into 7 specialized fields, including finance and investments, intelligent construction tools, productivity, brokerage and marketing, property management, and spaces digitalization with augmented/virtual reality. Furthermore, the report highlights various trends and challenges of the market, considering the economic fluctuations and the European legislative norms influencing the real estate industry, such as environmental measures, carbon footprint reduction, building energy efficiency, and ESG implementation.

Based on the public announcements, the report estimates that the Romanian proptech start-ups attracted approximately €15.6 million in investments between 2021 and 2024.

Ciprian Pașca, President of PropTech Romania, stated, “Although we are still in the early stages of real estate technology, the Romanian proptech industry stands out with a series of innovative solutions, many of which are already present at the international level. It is noteworthy that the global real estate industry has incorporated technology at a much slower pace compared to other industries, and this also applies in Romania. However, the need for innovation in real estate is very high and puts pressure on developers in the context of new legislative measures imposing rigorous standards in construction for environmental protection and sustainable urban development. The launch of this report is part of our mission to create a dialogue between real estate players and technology developers, as well as to highlight the Romanian innovations in this field.”

Mircea Vâdan, Managing Partner at Activize, stated: “The start-up ecosystem is growing, and the next level is industry specialization, such as proptech. That’s why such a report helps in the vertical’s development. We see the community growing, people getting to know each other better, collabaorating, and supporting one another. We hope to see an acceleration program as well, for support, specialized mentoring, and connection with potential clients, corporations, and investors. The challenges in the field are significant, and start-ups can help optimize processes, achieve more efficient monetization, and reduce costs for real estate developers, owners, and companies in the industry.”

In addition to launching The PropTech Map report at the Romanian PropTech Awards event, PropTech Romania awarded the most innovative proptech start-ups, which distinguished themselves through creativity and excellence in leveraging technology for the sustainable transformation of the real estate industry.
