Tragedia de marți seară, 3 octombrie, din Mestre, lângă orașul italian Veneția, a fost suprinsă într-o filmare realizată de o cameră de supraveghere din zonă, publicată de publicația italiană La Nuova.
În imagini, se vede cum autocarul, condus de Alberto Rizzotto, circulă pe prima bandă, pe pasajul rutier peste calea ferată, cu viteză redusă. La un moment dat, autocarul ajunge în dreptul altui autobuz, care semnalizează stânga, și brusc, se prăbușește 30 de metri în gol.

Accidentul s-a soldat cu 21 de morți și alți 15 răniți, au anunțat autoritățile italiene. În autocar erau 40 de oameni din Austria, Germania, Franța, Spania și Ucraina.
Anchetatorii iau în calcul, ca primă ipoteză a tragediei, că șoferului i s-a făcut rău la volan și a pierdut controlului vehiculului.
Poliția municipală din Veneția a spus că nu erau semne de frânare pe șosea în punctul în care autobuzul a căzut de pe pasajul superior, iar martorii au declarat că vehiculul a lovit de mai multe ori balustrada, înainte de a o străpunge și a cădea în gol 30 de metri.
