Oliva Rodrigo surprised fans in New York City last night (April 9), by bringing out Jewel as a surprise guest. Check out footage of the moment below.

The surprise appearance took place at Madison Square Garden last night, as Rodrigo performed the final show of her extensive ‘Guts’ North American tour.
It was in the latter half of her 24-song setlist – after performing fan favourites including ‘Vampire’, ‘Obsessed’ and ‘Drivers License’ – that she surprised the crowd by welcoming Jewel onto the stage for a stunning duet of her 1995 track ‘You Were Meant For Me’.
“She is such an incredible songwriter. When I first started writing my songs, I would listen to her album ‘Pieces of You’ before I went to bed,” Rodrigo told the audience just before inviting the singer on stage with her.
“She’s incredible and it’s such an honour that she’s here with me tonight.”
From there, Jewel took to to the stage with a black top, floaty trousers and a hat, and proceeded to join Rodrigo in playing guitar and taking turns singing the lyrics to the song. They also joined in harmonies for the chorus.
The song was originally featured on Jewel’s breakthrough debut album ‘Pieces Of You’, and went on to reach Number Two on the singles charts.

Last night marked the latest of several guest appearances that Rodrigo has introduced into her recent tour.
During her first show in NYC last Friday (April 5), she welcomed Noah Kahan to the stage where they both performed a duet of ‘Stick Season’. Rodrigo has previously covered Kahan’s track for BBC’s Radio 1 Live Lounge in 2023 and he followed this up by covering her song ‘Lacy’ for his own Live Lounge appearance.
In January, the pair announced a joint Record Store Day release that features covers of each others tracks with Rodrigo covering ‘Stick Season’.
Before that, she brought out Sheryl Crow during a Nashville show, where the two duetted ‘If It Makes You Happy’.
Rodrigo’s 2024 ‘Guts’ world tour is currently due to run until mid-August, and will see her venture across the pond for shows in the UK, Ireland and Europe later this year. The UK leg features four nights at The O2 in London. You can find any remaining tickets here.
