Alexander visited the iconic Queen Victoria pub on Albert Square, where he was introduced as a friend of Johnny Carter (played by Charlie Suff). The latter character explained that the pair “go way back”, adding: “Years and years, in fact.”

The singer added: “We met in a bar in Manchester. I must have been drunk because I thought he was funny.” He then told the punters that he was “gonna try” to win Eurovision, and said he’d “got rehearsals around the corner”.

Carter later described Alexander’s Eurovision entry single ‘Dizzy’ as “a banger”. “And remember: if you need any last-minute backup dancers, I’ll fly over. Easy,” he continued.

The pop artist responded: “Johnny – I wanna win, babe. If the UK has to rely on your two-step, we’re all doomed. So, wish me luck!”

Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) appeared to reference Alexander’s lead role in Channel 4’s It’s A Sin. “I mean, I think it’s a sin that he don’t like girls,” she commented. “I’d give him douze points if I was in my 20s.”
