Northbrook Park District is holding a spring tea for adults and children on May 4

A Park District facility might seem like an unlikely setting to sip fancy tea and nosh on delectable foodstuffs in the company of a princess, but that’s exactly what children and adults can enjoy on May 4 in Northbrook.

The Spring Tea event held by the Northbrook Park District will feature an assortment of pastries, finger foods, and sandwiches, along with a variety of tasty juices, herbal teas, and black teas, according to a news release.

Jennifer Kurtz, of Northbrook, who attended last year’s Spring Tea with her daughter Willow, now 4, said she was surprised at the quality of the offerings.

“Sometimes you go to events and it’s not about the food … but it was good,” she said in the release. “I remember the cucumber sandwiches, which is what you think of when you think of a tea party.”

The Spring Tea also will feature crafts, face painting, and other surprises for children, many of whom come all dressed up in their Saturday best for the most adorable photo opportunities, Nancy Eschker, Northbrook Park District Recreation Manager, said in the release.

“This is such a fun opportunity for adults and children to indulge in delicious food and create lasting memories while feeling pampered,” Eschker said.

According to the release, Spring Tea will accommodate different schedules, by having a morning session from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and an afternoon session from 2 to 3 p.m. on May 4, at the Northbrook Park District’s Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Ave. in Northbrook.

Advance registration is required. The fee for children is $35 per person for residents and $45 per person for nonresidents; the fee for adults is $25 per person for residents and $35 per person for nonresidents. Attendance for children 2 and under is free, the release said.
