AAM Awards Reveal Legacy Award Winner

The Association of Artist Managers Awards (AAM Awards) revealed its Legacy Award winner for 2024 ahead of this year’s ceremony, which takes place at Crowbar Sydney from noon on Wednesday, 1 May. The event will be live-streamed to the general public from 1 pm.

This year’s Legacy Award winner is Jodie Regan, who’s thrived in a 20-year career and continually represented Western Australia’s finest musicians. Since her early beginnings, which began with running the Fremantle music venue The Norfolk Basement, Regan stood out in the local scene by booking and promoting shows before pivoting to artist management.

As an artist manager, Regan has found great success on local and international levels with her management company, Spinning Top Music. With Spinning Top, Regan has worked with Tame Impala, Pond, Haiku Hands, Nicholas Allbrook, Automatic, Peter Bibby, GUM, Shiny Joe Ryan, Chela, and bambi, among others.

Musicians on Regan’s roster and her label have amassed more than 20 WAM Awards, 13 ARIA Awards, three APRA Awards, two J Awards, and numerous other accolades. Acts on the Spinning Top roster have been nominated for and won Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, the Australian Music Prize, MTV Video Music Awards, and UK awards, including NME Awards.

With Regan at the helm, Spinning Top Music has delivered top-tier music from Western Australia to the rest of the globe.

Upon winning the Legacy Award, Regan commented in a statement:

It’s really not often managers get recognised by anyone for the tireless work they do, and I certainly don’t do what I do for the recognition! But it feels bloody great to know that I could inspire a younger generation of Australian women to break into spaces that don’t look like they’re for us. Thank you AAM for this award!

Regan is in fine company, winning the Legacy Award after longtime Hoodoo Gurus manager Michael McMartin and The Cat Empire’s longstanding manager Correne Wilkie.

Nominations for the remaining AAM Awards are still open for voting until midnight on Tuesday, 26 March.

The remaining awards that will be revealed in May are Manager Of The Year (presented by Oztix), Breakthrough Manager Of The Year (presented by DMT Lawyers) and the Community Engagement Award (presented by Live Event Logistics). Regan will also be celebrated on the day, with the Legacy Award presented to her by Sony Music Publishing.

Details regarding the Community Engagement Award will be announced soon. To have your say in the open categories, cast your vote here.
