After robbing Skokie bank, suspect escaped on CTA bus, FBI believes

A bank robbery suspect entered the Chase Bank branch in downtown Skokie Monday morning, implied he had a weapon and demanded and received money, according to the FBI.

In a news release, the FBI said the robber entered the bank, 7941 Lincoln Ave., Skokie, around 10:18 a.m. and described him as in his 20s, 5’7″ to 5’9″, with a thin build, black hair and clean-shaven face.

The bureau said the suspect was wearing a grayish and black pattern zip-up hooded sweatshirt with a yellow print down the right arm; black, puffy jacket; dark jeans; black Doc Martin-style boots; dark, ski-style hat; and black sunglasses.

No one was injured in the robbery, and the suspect was still at large, the news release said, as of Monday night. The FBI believes he fled on CTA bus 1547. That bus was traveling Route 97, which goes from Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center in northern Skokie to the Howard Avenue station on the CTA Red Line in Chicago, and back to Old Orchard.

Prior to the robbery, the suspect is believed to have been at the Skokie Public Library, according to the FBI release. The library is about a block west of the bank, and Skokie Village Hall is in between them.
