Batavia man killed after vehicle hits tree, police say

A Batavia man was killed Tuesday evening when his vehicle hit a tree after leaving the roadway near West Fabyan Parkway and Route 31 in the city, Batavia police said.

According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle, being driven by Robert Foley, 35, was traveling eastbound on West Fabyan Parkway approaching Route 31 at approximately 9:43 p.m. when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and life-saving measures were performed by first responders, according to a press release from the police department. Foley was transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Batavia Police Department is continuing its investigation of the crash, according to the release.
