Bernalillo County gets $4M for Atrisco Vista construction job

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County has been awarded $4 million in federal funding for an Atrisco Vista reconstruction project. The work will occur between Double Eagle Road and Paseo Del Norte Boulevard.

The county says the funds are from the Community Project Funding request which was included in the final funding bill for fiscal year 2024. Atrisco Vista Boulevard is part of the Upper Petroglyphs Sector Plan, which includes a master-planned community and mixed-use development. Bernalillo County leaders hope the improvements will lead to more economic activity.

$77.6M invested into District 6 roadway projects

“Atrisco Vista Boulevard improvements will allow for positive economic activity that will bring more jobs and future housing opportunities to the Westside and reduce river crossings,” says Bernalillo County Commission Chair Barbara Baca.

According to a Bernco press release, the 2.35-mile segment will be reconstructed to realign the roadway that needs to be brought into compliance with current design standards. Two 12-foot driving lanes with 6-foot bike lanes, a multi-use trail will also be added.
