Glass Animals Announce New Album 'I Love You So F***ing Much'

English indie rock band Glass Animals will release their fourth album this July, announcing the album title, I Love You So F***ing Much, in a lengthy yet poignant social media post. The album will be released on Friday, 19 July 2024.

Posting the potential album art or teaser poster, the accompanying (all lowercase) statement saw what frontman Dave Bayley meant by the “you” in the title.

“These are love songs. They look at all the twisted shapes and forms of love, good and bad. They were born out of a large existential crisis,” the band wrote on Instagram. “So maybe it is fair to call them ‘existential love songs.’ I tried to work my way out of this existential crisis, and that resulted in some writing. That writing ended up being the backbone to this album.”

Glass Animals explained that the songs are addressed to “you,” and the “you” applies to different people in different songs. The band states that you can often think of someone you’re close to, and the title reflects “all shapes and forms of love and life at once.”

For the band, the title also refers to the listeners and people who have contributed to Glass Animals’ career, even when the album “almost killed me at times”.

The statement continued, “Even though the words themselves are so small, for me, they hold a large and complex emotional weight. They’re even hard to say. And they can take on a different meaning every time you say them.

“I guess the point is that the love and human connection in the world, in all its forms, is… enormous. It’s more complex and powerful than anything and everything else in the universe. So, perhaps you could call it a ‘meaning of life’ record. Or… just a collection of existential love stories.”

In addition to announcing the album, Glass Animals dropped the groovy new single, Creatures In Heaven. Check out the visualiser video below and pre-order/pre-save the album here.

Glass Animals’ song, Heat Waves, has been an Aussie favourite since its release in June of 2020 – a fact cemented by the group’s position atop the Hottest 100 only a few months later. By April 2022, Heat Waves remained the biggest song in Australia.

Bayley told the Melbourne crowd upon performing Heat Waves in 2022, “Australia has always done things first. When things were the worst, this song brought people so much joy, and it feels so damn special to finally sing it live with you.”
