In the sentence reading, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer read the definition of remorse to Gutierrez, and said that she showed none. Gutierrez is required to serve at least 85% percent of her sentence.

[2] ABQ city councilor proposes program that would provide day jobs to homeless people – A proposed program would give homeless people day jobs. Councilor Renee Grout introduced the program at Monday’s city council meeting. Back in 2015, the “There’s a Better Way” program provided over 6,000 jobs for the homeless. If approved by city council, the proposed pilot program would be created under the Health, Housing, and Homelessness Department. She’s asking the city to adopt the program for at least six months, allowing time to study its effectiveness.

[3] Lighter winds and warming temperatures – Skies will stay sunny, statewide, and temperatures will warm up. We will see breezes, daily, through Friday. Temperatures will warm up above average through Thursday. A weekend storm will bring cooler temperatures in eastern New Mexico, and rain chances for areas along and east of the Rio Grande Valley.

[4] ABQ City Council closer to securing funding for Route 66 welcome gateway – Albuquerque City Council voted to file for a $500,000 grant from the New Mexico Tourism Department for a Route 66 entrance similar to that of the gateway sign on the city’s west side near Central and Coors. The resolution also allows for an additional $26,000 from next year’s budget towards the project if the grant is approved. The city should have an answer from the state by July.

[5] Petroglyph National Monument closing some trails – The Petroglyph National Monument will soon be closing the Mesa Point Trail and the Boca Negra Canyon. Park rangers say the trails will be closed due to visitors moving rocks and damaging landscape. The closure goes into effect April 29 and will last for the foreseeable future. While some trail portions are closing, park rangers says Petroglyph National Monument has opened up new trail options as well, a new trail opened just south of the visitor center.
