More moisture’s on the way with some cooler temperatures

We started the day off with some breezy winds and cooler temperatures across portions of the state along with some cloud coverage across eastern New Mexico and some moisture building in. More cloud coverage will arrive to eastern New Mexico later this afternoon and evening as moisture from the Gulf of Mexico arrives into Saturday. This will allow low clouds, fog, and drizzle to stick around throughout the day east of the Central Mountain Chain. A reinforcing backdoor front Saturday will also keep temperatures across the east in the 40s/50s and low 60s far southeast. West of the mountains will be a couple degrees cooler but will remain likely seasonable if not above average. An isolated, light shower/storm is possible over the middle Rio Grande Valley and Gila, but not likely.

Drier air will arrive Sunday, allowing temperatures to warm back up statewide. A warming trend will pick up into early next week with well above average temperatures returning. Luckily, there is better potential for more widespread rain mid to late next week, although there is still a lot of uncertainty. Either way, if you live west of the mountains the seasonable to above average temperatures will stick around for basically the rest of the month. East of the mountains will feel more like winter Saturday before warmer temperatures return.
