New editorial platform featuring authentic love stories – UNFINISHED LOVE STORIES

EIDOS Foundation unveiled the UNFINISHED LOVE STORIES platform showcasing real love tales in all their diversity. Taking cues from Modern Love, The New York Times’ highly popular column helmed by journalist Daniel Jones, EIDOS is launching its own version of the project, dubbed ‘unfinished’. If you’ve got a love story to share with the world, you can send it over to editorial@unfinishedlove.com.

The editorial squad, led by journalists Nicoleta Rădăcină and Timea Honț, aims to drop a fresh love story every Sunday morning. The most gripping narratives will also find a home in the project’s podcast, steered by psychotherapist Alexandra Nedea.

Nicoleta Rădăcină, journalist and head of UNFINISHED LOVE STORIES, shared her journey: “Two years ago I left journalism because I no longer wanted to live tormented by overwhelming news. As I was doing when Russia invaded Ukraine and I woke up to a BBC notification instead of an alarm; or when I literally dreamed the voices of doctors screaming that there were no more places in the hospitals; or when I was listening on repeat to the 112 call of Alexandra Măceșanu, the girl kidnapped in Caracal. We’re navigating through crises – human, environmental, economic – and it feels like we’re slipping into individualism and cynicism more easily than ever. But I believe in the power of love, empathy, and vulnerability to heal. We’re not alone in this, and we’re not the only ones going through it. I’m confident that the UNFINISHED LOVE STORIES platform will inspire us to shed our armor and embrace the possibility of connection.”

The UNFINISHED LOVE STORIES project kicked off in 2021 during the UNFINISHED festival. Daniel Jones, editor of Modern Love, handpicked love stories from the global UNFINISHED community and brought them to life on stage with the help of professional actors. Following the pilot’s success, his involvement became a fixture at the festival, paving the way for the platform’s domestic launch.

Reflecting on the project, Daniel Jones said, “It has been exciting to see the Unfinished team gathering love stories from Romanians. Everyone has a love story; they are the most important stories of our lives. Sharing them can be cathartic and healing and helpful to others. Congratulations to Unfinished for having this vision and seeing it through.”

UNFINISHED LOVE STORIES explore love in its broadest sense – not just romantic relationships, but also familial bonds, friendships, and spiritual connections, spanning themes of loss, joy, and happenstance.

If you’ve got a love story to tell in Romanian, you can submit it to editorial@unfinishedlove.com in either a long format (1500 words) or a short format (150 words). Selected stories will be edited in collaboration with the authors, and published works will be compensated with 500 lei for long stories and 150 lei for short ones.

The project is launched in partnership with Hotnews.ro and Cărturești Bookstores as media and content collaborators.
