Today, April 23, the Capitol One City Parks Foundation SummerStage detailed its 2024 concert and entertainment season. The annual return of the region’s esteemed, free outdoor performing arts festival will roll out 85 unique and free benefit performances in Central and 12 other neighborhood parks throughout the area’s five boroughs.

With the capacity to immerse more than 219,000 fans in the arts during its forthcoming season, the SummerStage concept broadens its offerings with a genre-bending calendar filled with jazz, hip-hop, Latin, global, indie, and contemporary dance projects. Unlike one-off performances, SummerStage offers consistency by allowing New Yorkers the opportunity to enter a festival landscape without leaving the city.

Since its inception 40 years earlier, SummerStage has recruited more than seven million event-goers during its yearly arts-based gatherings. The 2024 schedule will commence on Friday, May 17, with a performance by James Arthur. Billed as opening night, June 1, Andra Day will perform at Central Park, followed by KES a week later, June 8.

SummerStage’s concert series will continue on Thursday, June 13, with Kim Gordon, Sun Ra Arkestra, and Slausoun Malone 1, with more names added and expected to take the stage that weekend. Then, on June 16, Corinne Bailey Rae and Dixon will deliver their Central Park performances prior to the Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital on Tuesday, June 18, and a repeat stand on Thursday, June 20.

More live shows have been peppered throughout July. Then, August will start out with a Blue Note Presents event billed as Robert Glasper featuring Yebba. Galactic is also set to perform early in the month, featuring Irma Thomas and The Rumble with Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. More entertainment will arrive throughout August.
