Park Ridge police: SUV carjacked at gas station, burglary at vape shop

The following items were taken from Park Ridge Police Department reports. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Suspicious Circumstance

Surveillance footage showed an unknown offender pulling the door handle to a locked 2018 Acura MDX in the 1000 block of South Hamlin Avenue at approximately 2:41 a.m. The offender then fled northbound on Hamlin Avenue on foot.

RING camera footage revealed that an unknown man carrying two gray bags pulled on the door handles of a locked 2018 Acura MXX and a 2022 Chevy Tahoe in the 700 block of South Hamlin Avenue on April 19 at 3:04 a.m. Police said the offender fled northbound on Hamlin Avenue on foot.

Motor Vehicle Theft

A victim walked away from their 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan at Thornton’s gas station at 1118 W. Touhy Ave. to throw away garbage when a Ford Edge pulled up next to the vehicle. An unknown male offender exited the Ford, entered the Volkswagen, and drove off with it, with the Ford following behind it, on April 21 at approximately 12:54 p.m.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

An unknown offender entered an unlocked SUV and stole personal property, including banking cards, on April 19 at 1:05 a.m. on the 1400 block of Granville Avenue.

A victim left their 2020 Chevy Silverado running with the keys in the ignition to allow the vehicle to warm up on April 19 from 5:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. in the 700 block of South Hamlin Avenue. Upon returning to the vehicle, various items were missing and taken by an unknown offender.

An unknown offender entered an unlocked Lincoln MKZ and removed several items from the car while it was parked in the driveway of the victim’s home in the 1000 block of Devon Avenue on April 23 at approximately 7 p.m.

An unknown offender entered a victim’s unlocked 2013 Honda CR-V and stole a few items while it was parked on the street of the 800 block of Peterson Avenue during the overnight hours of April 23.

An unknown offender entered an unlocked 2022 Kia Sportage and stole several items while the vehicle was parked on the victim’s driveway in the 1500 block of Brophy Avenue sometime between 5:30 p.m. on April 23 and 5 p.m. on April 24.

An unknown offender entered a victim’s unlocked 2021 Cadillac Escalade and stole several items while the car was parked on the victim’s parkway on the 1000 block of Devon sometime between 7 p.m. on April 23 and 12:04 p.m. on April 24.

Forcible Burglary

A witness told police officers that two unknown offenders wearing dark clothing smashed the front window of Prestige Tobacco and Vape at 149 N. Northwest Hwy. on April 23 at approximately 3:41 a.m. The witness said the offenders drove a black-colored vehicle, which was later identified as being stolen and was located in a neighboring jurisdiction.

An unknown offender entered a victim’s garage on the 100 block of Greenwood Avenue and stole a bike during the overnight hours of April 24. The offender also rummaged through the victim’s unlocked vehicle.

Criminal Damage to Property

An unknown offender damaged approximately 10 feet of fencing near the maintenance building of the Park Ridge Country Club at 846 N. Fairview Ave. during the overnight hours of April 21.

Retail Theft

Two unknown male offenders took alcohol and food from the Walgreens at 800 Devon Ave. and fled the store without paying on April 21 at approximately 3:02 a.m.

An unknown male and female offender stole merchandise from the CVS at 2648 E. Dempster St. on April 21 at approximately 4:27 p.m.

A Jewel Osco employee observed a male offender steal several bottles of alcohol from the Jewel Osco 481 at Busse Hwy. with the assistance of an unknown female offender and flee the scene on April 25 at approximately 12:20 p.m.

Theft over $500

An unknown offender stole several I-beam joints from a victim’s property while it was under construction on the 1900 block of South Prospect Avenue during the overnight hours of April 23.

Theft under $500

A victim went to the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute office at 250 S. Northwest Hwy. and accidentally left his wallet on April 25. An unknown subject found the wallet and delivered it to the victim’s residence. The victim said some cash was missing from his wallet.

Revoked/Suspended/No Driver’s License

A 28-year-old Chicago man was arrested for driving without a driver’s license and improper traffic lane usage at the intersection of Devon and Western Avenues on April 23 at 3:04 p.m.

A 35-year-old Park Ridge man was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license, operating an uninsured vehicle and using a cell phone while driving at the intersection of Northwest Highway and Oakton Street on April 23 at 4:22 p.m.

A 26-year-old Calumet City man was arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license at the intersection of Cumberland Avenue and Higgins Road on April 23 at 12:34 p.m.

A 21-year-old River Grove man was arrested for driving on a revoked driver’s license, having a suspended registration and an electronic communication device violation at the intersection of Oakton Street and Northwest Hwy. on April 24 at 7:21 p.m.

A 25-year-old Evergreen Park woman was arrested for driving while her license was suspended, not having a yearly registration attached to her plate and also having a warrant for her arrest at 225 W. Touhy Ave. on April 25 at 4:52 p.m.

A 50-year-old Chicago woman was arrested for driving without a driver’s license and an electronic communication device violation at the intersection of Oakton Street and Western Avenue on April 26 at 3:13 p.m.

A 24-year-old Des Plaines man was arrested for driving without a driver’s license and an electronic communication device violation at the intersection of Northwest Highway and Dee Road on April 26 at 3:43 p.m.
