SHIPROCK, N.M. (KRQE) –A Shiprock man is facing federal charges for killing two people and seriously injuring a third person in a head-on collision while driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the Department of Justice.

Brian Gonnie, 44, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury related to the crash on Dec. 1, 2023. Officials did not share information about where the crash took place.
If convicted, Gonnie faces up to 10 years in prison.
