It has been three years since Sicario: Day of the Soldado was released. Since then, fans have been asking about Sicario 3‘s release date and when it could be coming out.

Is there a Sicario 3 release date?
Sicario 3 does not have an official release date, but it will likely be announced in the future.
In a recent interview with The Playlist when asked about Sicario 3’s development, Josh Brolin who played CIA officer Matt Graves in the first two Sicario films, mentioned that it was close to being realized but that it would not happen unless they found a story worth telling.
He said, “We are—we’re closer. Yes, Molly Smith, who is a really good friend, who is one of the producers of that on Black Label—I said something. I said, ‘It’s never gonna happen!’ and it kind of went everywhere. And she was very reactive, which I appreciated. I appreciate reaction. They’re very much focused on wanting it to happen, but we won’t let it happen until there’s a story interesting enough to want to spend that kind of money on it.”
Josh Brolin’s comments suggest that the team behind Sicario 3 is likely still figuring out how to go about the project before they decide to fully commit to making it. Thus, a release date will only likely be announced once everything has been set in place.
Josh Brolin also mentioned in the interview that Christopher McQuarrie, who was originally attached to Sicario 3, was no longer involved and that he was unsure of Taylor Sheridan‘s (the scribe of the first two films) involvement.
As of writing, it is unknown who will be part of the film’s cast although various online rumors and speculation suggest that Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro would reprise their roles from the first two films as Matt Graves and Alejandro Gillick, respectively, alongside Emily Blunt‘s Kate Macer from the first film, although Blunt expressed uncertainty about her involvement in a recent Happy, Sad, Confused podcast appearance.
Where is Sicario 3 coming out?
Sicario 3 could come out in theaters if its development comes to fruition.
This is because the first two Sicario films were released in theaters before they were later made available to rent or own digitally and before they made their way into various streaming platforms. As such, the same can be expected of Sicario 3.
The first Sicario movie is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video while Sicario: Day of the Soldado is currently streaming on Hulu.
