Super Junior‘s Ryeowook has personally addressed a slew of hate comments that have been left on his social media accounts.

Yesterday (April 18), Ryeowook responded to a comment on his YouTube channel that called for the singer to “leave the group and open a cafe with your girlfriend”. The commenter also said that the singer should “go on a diet” while also calling him “pathetic”, per Koreaboo.
Lashing back at the commenter, Ryeowok worte: “So I looked pathetic to you. You also look really pathetic to me. You liked me for ten years, but to me, it looks like you didn’t like me for ten years but rather liked the thought of you liking someone.”
“I hope you take a good look at yourself. I did not make money because of you. I earned the money by working hard,” he added. “You couldn’t even imagine all the moments of how hard I worked. This is my path. Don’t talk without thinking, and don’t live your life hurting someone else. Even that energy is wasteful.”

After Ryeowook’s comment was posted and shared among fans, other netizens to leave hate comments for idol, telling him to “get a grip”. “Do you really think you made all that money solely with your skill? You aren’t on that level yet. You aren’t at that level to be making money just because of your hard work,” an X (formerly Twitter) user said.
The singer then uploaded a screenshot of the tweet to his Instagram Story, with the caption: “Who are you? Why are you making such a fuss? I’ve never not been out of my mind. Stop writing hateful comments – I see it all.”

Ryeowook later uploaded the same screenshot as a post on his feed, with a longer caption addressing the barrage of hate comments both he and other K-pop idols receive. “Do you think it’s okay to write hateful comments and hurt me because you spent money on me?” he wrote.
“Isn’t that an abuse of power?” Aren’t celebrities people too? Do I have to hold it all in even though I’m hurt? If this keeps going, there will only be AI celebrities left,” the singer added. “I don’t think of people who think it’s okay to hurt me and leave hate comments because they spent money to be my fans.”
