Tones And I has announced her first local headline tour in three years, hitting the road in August ahead of her second studio album.
The trek kicks off in Sydney (Eora) on Friday August 23, when the artist born Toni Watson will take the stage at the Hordern Pavilion. She’ll head up to Newcastle (Awakabal) next, playing the Entertainment Centre on Saturday August 24, before jetting off to Auckland (Tāmaki Makaurau) for a Town Hall show on Wednesday August 28.
Upon her return to Australia, Tones will play the Riverstage in Brisbane (Meanjin) on Friday August 30, followed in quick succession by the Entertainment & Convention Centre in Townsville (Gurambilbarra) the following day (August 31). Fans in Fremantle (Boorloo) will then be able to catch her play the Arts Centre on Thursday September 5, before she wraps things up with a Melbourne (Naarm) show at Margaret Court Arena on Saturday September 7.
In a press release, Tones said of her return to stages on home soil: “The support and love around Australia and [New Zealand] has been so incredible! My live show is something I hold very close to my heart and is the best representation of who I am. I’m so grateful to be embraced by people around Australia and NZ! I hope people leave feeling part of something, love Tones.”
Tickets for all seven shows go on sale at 12pm local time next Monday (April 15), following two presales: one for Vodafone, One NZ and Mastercard customers that kicks off at 10am this Wednesday (April 10), and one for My Live Nation members starting at 12pm this Friday (April 12). The tour comes hot on the heels of Tones’ run supporting P!nk on her recent Summer Carnival tour, where several historic records were broken. It also marks her first headline tour Down Under since 2021, when she was plugging her debut album Welcome To The Madhouse.
Tones’ second album is yet to be formally announced, although it’s expected to arrive sometime in 2024. Lead single Dreaming arrived back in February of this year, followed by I Get High last month, and Down Under just last Friday (April 5).
February also saw Tones become the first woman to reach three billion streams on Spotify, hitting the milestone with her divisive 2019 hit Dance Monkey. Earlier in the month, she came out swinging against Universal Music after the record label pulled its music catalogue from TikTok.
