(WTAJ) — PepsiCo has recalled 233 cases of Schweppes Zero Sugar Ginger Ale that inadvertently contained a “full-sugar product,” according to a webpage hosted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
PepsiCo initiated the recall back in March after an internal investigation uncovered the mix-up, the company said.
The ginger ale, packaged in 24-count cases of 7.5-ounce cans, had been shipped to Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia, according to PepsiCo.

It was unclear if the products had been pulled from distributors or shelves as of Wednesday, though the status of the recall is listed as “ongoing” on the FDA website. A representative for PepsiCo was not immediately available for comment.
The Schweppes recall is currently classified as a Class II recall, indicating “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,” according to the FDA.
