EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One person was killed and another person was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle crash over the weekend in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

According to Alamogordo Police, the crash happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7 at the intersection of 10th Street and North White Sands Boulevard.
When first responders arrived, they found that a 73-year-old woman died in her vehicle after she had become trapped. The driver of the other vehicle, identified only as a 23-year-old man, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital in Alamogordo and then was airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso.
According to police, their preliminary investigation showed that the injured man had been traveling “at a high rate of speed” on 10th Street, failed to stop at a red light and collided into the other car.
A task force of Southern New Mexico law enforcement is continuing the investigation of the crash.
