South Australia is home to a brand-new music venue: Towballs Bar.
In a time of noise complaints, developers threatening music venues, and venues closing due to massive increases in insurance costs and alcohol taxes, the news about Towballs Bar’s opening is more than welcome.
Towballs Bar is located in the industrial area of Southern Adelaide on 13 Aldenhoven Road, Lonsdale. As for the space itself, it offers a chilled atmosphere with kegs surrounded by stools for punters to gather and enjoy a drink with a stacked bar and essential indoor heating, with its tin shed offering authentic rustic vibes.
For the musicians, the venue hosts a “big stage with a drum riser, big sound and lights so you can put on a show,” per a press release. Towballs Bar is a 150-capacity room with an impressive in-house sound system and light show.
Punters will be met with plenty of space to chill, get close to the stage, or dance, with a bar packed with “club-priced drinks” and a food truck on site.
Venue owners commented in a statement, “Coming to this venue to see live bands will take you back to the heady days when live rock bands ruled the social scene: the golden age when pub rock was exciting, friendly, good times. Towballs Bar is set up for bands and for the patrons.”
While Towballs Bar has already hosted some gigs, venue owners have advertised an upcoming gig on Saturday, 27 April. Crash Course Budgie will play the music of Budgie with support from Loaded Billy and The Wayward Ones.
Tickets are on sale for $15 via Try Booking, or punters can purchase tickets at the door for $20. Bands interested in booking to play at Towballs Bar can contact Tonto from Go-Hard Lighting via the venue’s Facebook group.
