Bears Acquire Keenan Allen in Trade With Chargers, per Report

Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears front office continue making moves early into the new league year.

On Thursday night, the Bears agreed to acquire veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen in a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers.

In exchange, Chicago will send a fourth-round pick to the Chargers, who reportedly approached Allen earlier Thursday about taking a pay cut, which he declined, per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

The Bears have already made a handful of big moves to shore up the offense, adding running back D’Andre Swift, tight end Gerald Everett and a trio of offensive linemen in Matt PryorColeman Shelton and Jake Curhan

Chicago, owners of the No. 1 pick, which could potentially be used to draft USC quarterback Caleb Williams, bolstered its arsenal of offensive weapons with Thursday’s trade to acquire Allen.

The six-time Pro Bowler will turn 32 before next season gets underway but is coming off one of his best campaigns. Allen racked up 108 receptions, 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. It was his fifth season with 100-plus receptions and the sixth time he’s surpassed 1,000 receiving yards.

He’ll provide the Bears with an elite receiving option opposite D.J. Moore, who enjoyed a prolific first season in Chicago last year.
