Bernalillo County looks to hire lifeguards ahead of summer

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – With summer right around the corner, the Bernalillo County Parks & Recreation Department is looking to hire lifeguards.

The Parks & Recreation Department’s Aquatics Division is looking to fill 50 lifeguard positions at its various pools by June 1. Lifeguards must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/AED certification, be at least 15 years old, and pass an Aquatics Lifeguard Skills Test. Individuals who are 15 must have a worker’s permit

The Aquatics Division also offers lifeguards the opportunity to work year-round in addition to flexible scheduling. “Our associate director started with us as a lifeguard and worked her way up,” said PRD Director Dave Simon in a news release. “If you’re interested in learning more, then dive right in!”

There are eight American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Program classes in April and May. Fees for the class will be waived for those who want to work for the city. To learn more about the class schedule and registration info, click here.
