AEW star Jeff Hardy, who suffered a severe injury in a match in February 2024, has teased a major change. In a match against Sammy Guevara on AEW Rampage, Hardy appeared to have sustained an injury, causing widespread concern for his health. Consequently, Hardy was sidelined from the in-ring action. Also, Guevara was suspended for not following the concussion protocol during the match.
Jeff Hardy has been absent from AEW programming, but it seems his comeback is nigh. During his time away from WWE, Jeff Hardy introduced a different side of himself in independent wrestling scenes, unveiling a new character – Willow the Wisp. He had also used it in the early days of his career. In his latest Instagram post, Jeff Hardy shared a video of himself wearing the Willow the Wisp outfit.
Fans have witnessed Jeff Hardy portray various versions, such as Brother Nero from Matt Hardy’s Broken Universe. It will be interesting to see how Jeff, who is teasing the Willow the Wisp version, will captivate the AEW audience during his return.
Matt Hardy confirms Jeff Hardy’s clearance for AEW return
Former AEW star Matt Hardy was upset following his brother’s injury spot. Recently, he shared a positive update on Jeff’s health. During a Q&A session on his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt mentioned that Jeff’s physician and the medical team assigned at AEW have permitted him to wrestle again.
Matt stated, “I can let you know this. Jeff had been to his doctor and he’d seen the AEW doctor and as of right now, as of a couple of days ago, he is officially cleared. He is cleared to wrestle and he could be competing, I guess, soon. I guess he could be competing in the future any day now. So, there’s some breaking news, Jeff Hardy is finally cleared after getting his nose broken and his sinuses smashed.”
With Hardy cleared to compete, his Willow the Wisp gimmick has created quite a buzz in the pro wrestling scene. It will be interesting to see what Tony Khan has in store for him in the AEW programming.
