[1] State opposes Hannah Gutierrez’s conditional discharge request – Sentencing is scheduled Monday for “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez, charged with involuntary manslaughter. Gutierrez’s lawyers are asking for leniency in her sentencing asking for a conditional discharge, meaning she would be let out of jail and put on probation. In a response to the motion, the State said Gutierrez continues to blame others for the cinematographer’s death. The State is requesting the courts sentence Gutierrez to 18 months in jail.

[2] Tucumcari woman going to trial for manslaughter after dogs attack, kill man – Mary Montoya, a Tucumcari woman charged with involuntary manslaughter after her family’s dogs attacked and killed a man is expected to go to trial this week. Officers said those dogs belonged to Montoya and her son, Kristopher Morris. In an interview last year, Morris talked about how the family’s dogs would frequently escape their property. According to court documents, first responders found the victim, Stanley Hartt, with numerous bite marks and a large portion of his legs appeared to be eaten by animals.

[3] High winds, cooler temperatures and showers return – Winds will start picking up speed during the morning commute. Southern and eastern New Mexico will see the strongest winds, of 60 to 70 mph. The Metro and and middle Rio Grande Valley will see winds of 40 to 50 mph, and the Four Corners will see the lightest winds, up to around 30 to 40 mph. Red flag warnings will be in effect all day, as there will be high fire danger in the Rio Grande Valley, southern and all of eastern New Mexico. Temperatures will be cooling today, by around 5 to 15 degrees, compared to Sunday.

[4] ABQ city councilor requests looking into funds for homeless population – Albuquerque city councilors are expected to vote on a resolution demanding an a detailed account of where the money the city allocates for homelessness is going. Councilor Renee Grout filed the resolution last month, asking the Keller administration to present a report outlining how much the city has spent of homelessness over the last five years and where that money has been spent. If the resolution passes, the Health, Housing and Homelessness Department is required to present the information within the next 60 days.

[5] ABQ BioPark welcomes two gibbons to ape walk – The BioPark is welcoming a pair of gibbons to the ape walk. 7-year-old Makaio and 6-year-old Siena come from Nashville, Tennessee and Columbus, Ohio. The BioPark says gibbons aren’t monkeys, but actually lesser apes. They say their lack of tail and ability to walk upright sets them apart. The BioPark says the two are becoming fast friends and recently ventured out into their new habitat.
