In 2022 Skeens is seen on lapel video approaching a man struggling at a self checkout at the Target on Coors. A few moments later the incident escalates and bodycam footage shows the man being forcibly removed form the store.

The defense claims the manager authorized the officer to criminally trespass the man, while the state argued he argued on his own accord. Opening statements wrapped up Tuesday morning and witness statements are scheduled to be heard. Skeens faces charges of false imprisonment, battery, perjury and making a false report.
