‘Rust’ armorer’s lawyers ask for leniency in her sentencing

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Hannah Gutierrez, the woman convicted for a woman’s death on the set of Rust, is asking for a conditional discharge at her sentencing hearing on Monday. Gutierrez was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and faces 18 months behind bars.

Her lawyers filed a sentencing memorandum where they said Gutierrez has undergone undue hardship from media coverage of a high-profile death on the set of a movie and she “will continue to endure collateral consequences far harsher than most defendants ever must face.”

Meanwhile, GoFundMe has shut down a fundraising page for Gutierrez. According to the Holywood Report, her family started the page to help pay for the cost of an appeal. The website took it down saying it violated its rules about raising money for legal defense.
