The ongoing period C-drama Tender Light aired episode 7 on April 30, 2024. It features Zhang Xincheng and Tong Yao in the lead roles. The episode focuses on Zhou Lou (Zhang Xincheng) trying to get Nan Ya (Tong Yao) not to leave the town. It describes the incidents that were unveiled in the third month after Zhou Lou set foot in his hometown. One of his classmates developed a crush on him, but he had his eyes set on Nan Ya. Thus, he desperately avoided running into his classmate.
One day, Zhou Lou saved Nan Ya’s daughter from being bullied by the neighborhood kids. She told him about a new place where her mother was taking her. This newfound information made Zhou Lou nervous, and he rushed to Nan Ya’s boutique. Nan Ya refused to open the door for her. At first, she denied that she was leaving. But she gave in after Zhou Lou’s incessant persistence. Tears rolled down his cheeks, and he begged her to tell him her new address, but she refused. She won’t even allow him to come and bid her farewell.
Zhou Lou was even more disheartened as Nan Ya called him a kid. He promised to take care of her after finding employment, but she did not entertain these thoughts. She wanted to find peace for her sickly daughter. She strictly asked him to leave her alone.

The next day, Zhou Lou visited Nan Ya’s house at the break of dawn to see her off. He gave her a CD containing recordings of him as he poured his heart out. He followed her to the bus station and even got on the same bus as her. But Nan Ya continued to ignore him. He followed her next to the train station, hoping she would turn back once. But her stone-cold treatment shattered his hopes. He left after she got on the train.
Xu Yi’s brother got on the same train as Nan Ya and misbehaved with her. An enraged crowd misread the situation and dragged them both out of the train compartment. Xu Yi and his mother planned this to tarnish Nan Ya’s name. They ganged up against Nan Ya and announced that Nan Ya tried to run away with her husband’s brother.
A mob gathered, and they started to hit Nan Ya. Zhou Lou’s family arrived there and rescued Nan Ya’s daughter. Zhou Lou wanted to help Nan Ya and take revenge on Xu Yi, but his friend held him back. He helplessly witnessed as the townspeople tore Nan Ya apart. After the police arrived, Zhou Lou’s female classmates helped Nan Ya cover up.
Thereafter, Zhou Lou waited outside her house to check on her. She came outside and started to go in the direction of the river. Worried, Zhou Lou followed her. Nan Ya and Zhou Lou took off their clothes and got into the river. While swimming away her pain, Nan Ya gave Zhou Lou some life advice. She urged him not to trust anyone, including her.
