Officials to meet with public on Four Corners freight rail service options

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Four Corners residents can learn more information about proposed freight rail service in the area. San Juan County, the Navajo Nation, and the Federal Railroad Administration will host three public information meetings on the proposal next week.

Discussion will center on possible routes, impacts on commercial traffic, and economic opportunities. Officials said feedback they receive will be taken into consideration.

Two meetings are set for Wednesday. The first will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farmington Civic Center and the second from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Newcomb High School. The third meeting is set for Thursday at Navajo Technical University in Crownpoint from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
